A big warm hello from the team at the Woman be kind Collective. The Woman be kind Collective consists of six medical doctors from around New Zealand. As you will already know, our mission is to empower women to get to know their bodies better. You can read a little more about each of our members below.
Not only will the Collective be bringing you regular articles on everything from contraception to menopause, but there will also be feature articles from special guests.
Dr Greta is a Christchurch based medical doctor who has specialised in Family Planning and General Practice. Dr Greta founded the Woman be kind blog in February 2020 to extend her passion for sharing information with women, hoping to empower them to get to know themselves better. Her special interests are in contraception and youth sexual health. Dr Greta loves drawing and her illustrations are featured throughout the blog. When she is not being ultra-competitive at mini-golf she likes to spend time drinking coffee, reading, or frolicking in nature. Dr Greta will continue to bring you articles on contraception and female anatomy as well as interviews with different women and their health experiences.
Dr Lauren is a pizza-loving Christchurch based doctor, currently working in Emergency Medicine. Dr Lauren is the blog’s resident sexpert, with special interests in sexual health and wellbeing. She is particularly interested in the way women identify with their bodies and their sexual relationships. In her spare time, she loves dancing (and has recently started pole dancing classes) which she tells us is a fun way to get fit!
Dr Geetha is a General Practitioner and Medical Educator living in New Zealand’s beautiful capital city Wellington. When she is not spending time with her family she can be found baking, reading or out on bush walks with her friends. She has a special interest in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, female exercise physiology and menopause. Being a member of the international menopause society, Dr Geetha will be bringing you lots of great content on everything menopause.
Dr Georgie is a General Practitioner who is passionate about empowering women to feel confident in their bodies. Currently based in Hawke’s Bay, she loves nothing more than an evening featuring a lazy beer and tacos. In her spare time, she enjoys running, going to the beach and tree-bathing under big old native trees. Dr Georgie has a wide-ranging interest in all things women’s health and will be bringing you articles on everything from period woes and skin conditions to mental health and relationships.
Dr Amelia is an Auckland based Medical Registrar who really cares about how we think and talk about women’s health and their bodies. Her dream is for ALL people to have an understanding of the variations in, and many wonderful functions of, womxn’s bodies. This way we can discuss how to properly care for them and ensure all womxn have access to proper health care. Dr Amelia’s special interest is in the variation in experiences and views womxn have across different ages, times, places, cultures, and sexualities. Outside of work, this chocolate-loving doctor enjoys painting, tramping, being in and on the ocean, knitting and eating!
Dr Hannah-Rose is a Dunedin based doctor currently working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. When she’s not enjoying a kombucha or a spearmint flavoured milkshake she is usually outdoors: surfing, biking or taking her children on bush walks. Dr Hannah-Rose is really passionate about all things relating to post-partum care, including maternal mental health. She is the blog’s post-partum expert and will bring you some great much-needed information on the pregnancy and post-pregnancy experience.
